Welcome Year 8s
Welcome to your second year at Craigslea State High School, an exciting time for you as you enjoy subjects of your choice and spread your wings beyond the dedicated year 7 area.
My name is Jaime Nakahara and I am the Year 8 Coordinator for 2026. It is my privilege to support this cohort of students socially, emotionally and academically to ensure they each have a positive school experience this year.
Form Teachers & CAB Program
Year 8 Form teachers will be your child's first point of contact should they require support. Form class is more than a time for daily notices; it is an important space where teachers welcome students to the school day, build positive relationships, and help set them up for success.
Form teachers also deliver our CAB (Craigslea and Beyond) program, which ensures students foster social and personal capability. Students will learn to understand themselves and others and work to engage in healthy, respectful relationships both face-to-face and online. Our holistic approach aims to support students in becoming confident individuals with a strong sense of self and belonging.
Craigslea SHS Dress Code
The Craigslea SHS Dress Code has been developed through consultation with the school's P&C and is an important aspect of our school culture. It promotes a safe and supportive learning environment by allowing us to readily identify students and non-students at the school. It also fosters a sense of belonging and pride among students. Form teachers, class teachers and year level coordinators will work together to monitor adherence to the dress code and to instil a sense of responsibility and respect in students. We believe in working collaboratively with families to maintain these expectations and ensure students present themselves with pride.
Junior Secondary Leadership roles
In semester 2, all year 8 students will be asked to consider if they wish to nominate for a junior secondary leadership position. Students will discuss leadership qualities and how they may wish to impact the school and its culture.
