Craigslea State High School first opened its doors to students in 1975. It was the first Queensland secondary school with lowset buildings. Unlike traditional high school designs, the high percentage of space taken up by verandahs, and staircases has been reduced to some 5% of the total floor area of the Craigslea complex.
The school is well resourced with specialist teaching areas and classrooms on an expansive 10 hectares, refurbished Science laboratories, Mathematics building and new Science / Technology facility, purpose built Arts performance spaces, auditorium and hall.
Extensive sporting facilities including a pool, beach and indoor volleyball courts, netball, tennis and basketball courts, cricket nets, gymnasium and sporting fields.
Dedicated Year 7 and 8 areas and extensive outdoor shade and seating developed using the School Master Plan. This will be used to direct further development.
