Craigslea State High School enjoys significant support from the community and engages parents, carers, and interested citizens as key partners in the achievement of student learning goals.
Two of our parent support groups are CHAMPS (Arts and Music) and CVA PSG (Volleyball).
Craigslea High Arts and Music Parent Support (CHAMPS)
The CHAMPS group is an invaluable parent body, representing families involved in the Arts and Music programs.
The purposes of the subcommittee may include:
- To bring about closer co-operation between the parents of students participating in the arts and music program and staff.
- To facilitate effective communication and distribution of accurate information.
- To facilitate the effective participation of students in the arts and music program.
- To support staff in the coordination of arts and/or musical events and activities, where required.
- To organise appropriate fundraising activities, in consultation with the Association, to provide additional resources to support the arts and music program and student participation in the arts and music program.
- To provide assistance in developing partnerships with the wider community,
- To provide feedback or advice to the arts and music program staff in relation to students' participation in the program.
CHAMPS meets once per term.
Craigslea Volleyball Academy Parent Support Group (CVA PSG)
The CVA PSG consists of dedicated families of students participating in Craigslea's volleyball program.
The purposes of this subcommittee may include:
- To bring about closer co-operation between the parents of students participating in the volleyball program and staff.
- To facilitate effective communication and distribution of accurate information.
- To facilitate the effective participation of students in the volleyball program.
- To organise appropriate activities, in consultation with the Association, to provide additional resources to support the volleyball program and student participation in the volleyball program.
- To provide assistance in developing partnerships with the wider community.
- To provide feedback or advice to the volleyball program staff in relation to students' participation in the program.
In December, the CVA travels to compete in the Australian titles (AVSC – Australian Volleyball Schools Cup) which involves significant financial commitment from all those involved. In recent years, this has been on the Gold Coast, however previous tournaments have been held in Melbourne and other cities.
The CVA PSG usually meets once per term.
Both support groups are vital to the success of our students involved in these programs. Information regarding meetings can be obtained through the school newsletter and are often advertised directly via email from school staff.
