Humanities & Social Sciences Overview
Humanities and Social Sciences provides students with opportunities to explore people, societies, cultures and the world around them. Through engaging and authentic learning experiences, students develop critical thinking, communication, research and problem solving skills while gaining a deeper understanding of historical, geographical, legal, social and global issues.
Students are encouraged to question, investigate and analyse the factors that shape individuals, communities and societies. The faculty supports students in becoming informed, active and responsible citizens who can think independently and make meaningful contributions in an increasingly interconnected world.
Across junior and senior pathways, students have opportunities to study a range of subjects that develop knowledge and practical skills aligned with future study and career pathways. Senior subjects offered within the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty include:
- History
- Geography
- Legal Studies
- Tourism
- Early Childhood Studies
- Philosophy
These subjects provide students with diverse pathways into areas such as law, education, community services, tourism, business, government and the social sciences. Students engage with real-world issues, explore different perspectives and build transferable skills that support success beyond school.
