The subject challenges us to use evidence and be innovative when solving problems in a world of complex global relationships and trends, where a knowledge of business and economic forces and flows leads to better decisions. In economics and business, decision-making is core: to maximise well-being.
Business and Economic literacy is essential for understanding current issues: to make informed judgments and participate effectively in society. Students develop knowledge and cognitive skills to comprehend, apply analytical processes and use economic and business knowledge.
They examine data and information to determine validity, and consider policies from various perspectives. Models and analytical tools are used to investigate and evaluate outcomes to draw conclusions. In the process, students appreciate ideas, viewpoints and values underlying business and economic issues and decisions.

- Learning in Digital Technologies focuses on developing understanding and skills in problem solving methods.
- This course of study allows students to use digital technologies to examine contemporary issues, events and/or case studies and present solutions.

The units offered in this area of study help to develop students' understanding of various business procedures and the environments in which business organisations operate. There is an opportunity to develop a range of personal and interpersonal skills with general application to personal and work life, as well as specific knowledge and skills to enhance success within the business services industry. An introduction to personal and business accounting records also provides students with valuable real-life skills. Economics and Accounting Applications - Running a successful business/household means that you must constantly monitor your own financial position. To assess performance, it is important to understand how financial transactions are recorded and reported upon.
- In this unit, students will be introduced to the basics of record management and accountability.

Economics - Studies in Economics helps students develop knowledge, skills, values and attitudes which enhance competence in decision making about people and their social and economic environment.
