About School Productions
Each year, the Arts Department embarks on a whole school production where students from all year levels are given the opportunity to showcase their talents both onstage and behind the scenes. The productions are coordinated by the Arts Head of Department, Mrs Jennifer Pedder. Productions alternate between musicals and the Arts Spectacular, year to year.
Highlights from Past Productions
In 2019, the Arts Department showcased their much-anticipated Arts Spectacular, which involved all areas of the Arts including Dance, Drama, Music, Media, Visual Arts and Instrumental Music. The production attracted over 600 audience members for two nights of dazzling entertainment. The production was a colourful and energetic display, featuring 200 students from the Performing and Creative Arts.
In 2020, the Arts Department presented their adaption of 'Little Shop of Horrors'. This quirky, upbeat show was full of catchy songs to showcase our talented singers, dancers and actors. Students and staff started and stopped throughout Covid in 2020, and the long anticipated show did not disappoint when we were finally allowed to perform again.
Upcoming Productions
In 2023, we are excited to present the Arts Spectacular on August 26; a showcase of all the Arts here at Craigslea SHS. There will be an impressive line up of acts including Vocal and Instrumental Music, Craigslea Dance Company (CDC), Drama, Film Television, Melodia and an art gallery.
With an average cast of 100+ students and rehearsals outside of school hours, these are time-consuming activities that could not go ahead without substantial community support. We are very grateful for the team of dedicated parents/caregivers who so willingly give their time and services, from sewing costumes, to helping with fundraising activities or providing contact information for building materials etc.
