About the Program
Vocal Lessons at Craigslea SHS consists of three vocal groups and soloist vocal
lessons.
- Melodia
- Bassline
- Chamber Choir
The program is coordinated by Mrs Jennifer Pedder.
The program consists of vocal lessons which take place on a rotational basis and involves a one half hour lesson each week in the Instrumental Music block (J03).
About Melodia
Melodia is a choir for all ages. Melodia sings a range of music with a focus on popular songs, as well as two
or three part pieces, and occasionally combines with the other vocal groups. Melodia
performs at school events, assemblies and competitions.
Melodia meets every Wednesday during second lunch in the Instrumental Music block (J01).
About Chamber Choir
Chamber Choir is a small auditioned chamber group with a focus on extending our top level choiristers into more difficult repertoire. Chamber Choir perform regularly at assemblies and school events such as Awards Night and orientation days, as well as community events.
Chamber Choir meet Monday and Friday at 7.30am in the Drama rooms.
Bassline
Bassline is a Tenor Bass vocal group with a focus on three and four part harmony, acapella and voice development.
Bassline perform on Music nights, assemblies and community events. They also take part in competitions throughout the year which provides them with an opportunity to showcase their abilities and engage with vocal groups from other schools.
Bassline meet every Monday during second lunch in the Instrumental Music block (J03).
2025 Achievements
Our Vocal Lessons Program
achieved outstanding success across our choirs. Chamber Choir made
history as the first state school choir to win First Place in the
Advanced Choir section at the Queensland Youth Music Awards and was
selected as one of five state finalists for Choral Fanfare. Across
multiple Brisbane festivals, the Vocal Lessons Program also earned five
Gold Awards, two Silver Awards, and a 'Regional Best Performance' award.

this incredible momentum, 2026 promises another exciting year for music and vocal groups at Craigslea. Our passionate students, dedicated teachers and thriving
music and vocal programs continue to foster creativity, confidence, and
performance excellence, offering new opportunities to shine on stage and
share their talents with the school and wider community.
Enrolments into Vocal Lessons
An enrolment form is to be submitted with the 2027 Enrolment Pack or alternatively through an online application (refer below).
Auditions will be held in Week 2 of Term 1, 2027, to determine vocal types and group allocation.
Lessons will commence in Week 3 of Term 1 2027.
