Study Tours

Craigslea State High School also welcomes study tour groups from other countries. We have had the pleasure of hosting over 70 groups from Japan, Korea and China who have visited us to improve their English and to experience Australian culture.

All Group Study Tours to Queensland Government Schools are arranged through the Study Tour and Professional Visits Division of Education Queensland International (EQI).

Brisbane attractions:-

  • South Bank Parklands –The Parklands at South Bank on the Brisbane river features 17 hectares of lush gardens and lawns. Day. Visitors to Brisbane are attracted to South Bank for its relaxed atmosphere and opportunity to swim, walk, ride or eat. There are several barbecues across the Parklands where people of all cultures visit to celebrate family functions as well as national events such as Australia Day.
  • Mt Cootha Lookout – This is a very popular tourist attraction whereby day, you can see the sun shining over Brisbane out to Moreton Bay and by night, a fairy land of glittering lights and starlit sky surrounds you.
  • Lone Pine – The Koala sanctuary is dedicated to the preservation of Australian Wildlife through education about the needs of our unique Australian Animals.

The Gold Coast is situated approximately just 1 hour south from Brisbane City. It hosts the following Theme Parks and is famous for its white beaches.

  • Dream World is Queensland largest theme park on the Gold Coast. It includes thrill rides, Tigers, Kangaroos, Koalas and other Australian wildlife.
  • Movie World on the Gold Coast has film inspired thrill rides, movie based entertainment as well as Loony Tunes Village for the younger generation. Many Australian and International films have been made at Movie World.
  • Wet n’ Wild – Is the biggest waterslide park on the Gold Coast. Waterslides are heated in winter to make the theme park fun all year round.

 The Sunshine Coast is just 1 hour north of Brisbane and is easily accessible by car, coach. It is also famous for its white beaches and fishing.

  • Australia Zoo – home of the Irwins made famous by the crocodile hunter series and the late Steve Irwin has a range of activities around animal conservation and education. There are live crocodile feedings and time to pat the snakes. Plus a number of interactive shows.
  • Underwater World – located in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast. Queensland’s largest aquarium gives visitors an insight into Australian marine life, with live shows and a “touch and feel” lagoon.

Over the years, we have had visits from many Japanese High School students for a one day study tour. These groups comprise from 120 to 200 students and include activities such as:

  • Cricket
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Aboriginal Painting
  • Japanese Culture Class
  • Bushdancing
  • BBQ lunch
 The students and staff at Craigslea enjoy hosting the many groups that visit us each year.
