Youth Health Nurse


​Stella Field is the Youth Health Nurse employed by Queensland Health. She works with the school community on issues that may affect the health and wellbeing of young people.

This includes:

  • Help with curriculum, in areas such as nutrition, sun safety and the like
  • Provision of health information to students, staff and family to promote health and wellbeing
  • Referrals to appropriate services to enhance health and wellbeing.


The Youth Health Nurse can:

  • See students individually or in groups
  • Do classroom presentations.


Information on health and wellbeing can also be provided by the Youth Health Nurse in the following areas:

  • Relationships
  • Mental health
  • Alcohol and other drugs
  • Personal and family issues
  • Growth and development
  • Sexual health
  • Nutrition and exercise. utrition and exercise.




Young people have the right to confidentiality when accessing health services.

If a student discloses information where they or someone else’s health and wellbeing is at risk, the nurse has to act on this. This will be discussed with the student at the time. Students can also give consent if they want any information to be shared with other individuals or organisations.

Students are encouraged to talk to their parents/carers at all times.

The Youth Health Nurse is based in H Block and is available for appointments on Wednesdays, Thursdays and alternate Tuesdays.
