Welcome Year 7s
Welcome to your first year at Craigslea State High School—an exciting time as you embark on this new chapter of your life. As we begin the 2025 academic year, I extend a warm welcome to all our Year 7 students and their families.
My name is Caitlin Florence, and I am the Year 7 Coordinator for 2025. It is my privilege to support this cohort socially, emotionally, and academically to ensure each student has a positive school experience this year and a strong foundation for their high school journey.
My approach is centred on creating an environment where every student feels safe, supported and ready to thrive. I believe in nurturing not just academic abilities but also the social and emotional aspects of students' development. This holistic approach is key to helping each student realise their full potential in a setting that promotes a sense of belonging, stability and joy.
Collaborative Learning with Dedicated Teachers and CAB Program
In collaboration with our dedicated Year 7 Form/Core teachers, we ensure a consistent and supportive classroom experience. Year 7 Form Class teachers will be your student's first point of contact if they require assistance. During Form Class, students will be informed of key events and any changes to schedules. Regular communication with families is a priority, keeping you informed about school events, initiatives, homework and assessment guidelines.
Our unique CAB (Craigslea and Beyond) program, delivered by Year 7 Form teachers, plays a pivotal role in fostering students' social and emotional well-being. Through this program, students will learn to understand themselves and others, building skills to engage in healthy, respectful relationships both face-to-face and online.
Our holistic approach aims to support students in becoming confident individuals with a strong sense of self and belonging.
Craigslea SHS Dress Code
The Craigslea SHS Dress Code has been developed through consultation with the school's P&C and is an important aspect of our school culture. It promotes a safe and supportive learning environment by enabling us to readily identify students and non-students on campus. Additionally, it fosters a sense of belonging and pride among students.
Form Class teachers, Class teachers and Year Level Coordinators will work together to monitor adherence to the Dress Code and instil a sense of responsibility and respect in students. We believe in working collaboratively with families to uphold the Dress Code, ensuring that our students present themselves in a manner that reflects respect for themselves and the school community.
Year 7 Camp (Term 2)
An exciting part of the Year 7 transition program at Craigslea SHS is the three-day Outdoor Education Camp in Term 2. This camp provides students with an opportunity to build relationships with their peers and school staff while working toward the following educational goals:
- Building self-confidence and self-awareness through supported adventure, problem-solving, team-building and communication activities.
- Increasing understanding of social and interpersonal responsibility through teamwork.
- Fostering an appreciation for outdoor activities and the natural environment.
- Enhancing understanding of oneself and others.
A letter will be sent home in Week 1 of Term 1, 2025, with details about paying the deposit for this camp. The deposit is due by Friday 28 February 2025.
