The position of Prefect at Craigslea State High School is a vital part of student leadership. Prefects work with and for the school community to help ensure the smooth running of daily activities. They should earn students' respect and use their authority responsibly. Prefects should remain proactive and uphold their role at all times.
Prefect Roles and Duties
The role of Prefect is to undertake the following responsibilities:
- Lead by example in all aspects of school life and uphold school values in a manner befitting the position.
- Attend school and community functions as representatives of Craigslea State High School’s staff and students.
- Deliver welcome and thank you speeches to special visitors and guests.
- Address school assemblies to promote school values and other relevant matters in consultation with the Principal, Deputy Principals, Head of Department Senior Schooling and Year Level Coordinators.
- Participate in a leadership project with the Kedron-Wavell RSL Sub-Branch in consultation with the Principal, Deputy Principal and Kedron-Wavell RSL Sub-Branch Teacher Liaison.
- Attend monthly RSL Sub-Branch meetings at Kedron-Wavell Services Club.
- Engage in Kedron-Wavell RSL Sub-Branch activities, including but not limited to the ANZAC Day Canberra trip and World War I Trek.
- Attend regular meetings with the Principal, Deputy Principals and Head of Department Senior Schooling, alongside the School Captains, Vice-Captains, House Council Executives and other captains.
- Always wear the correct school uniform, as outlined in the School Dress Code.
Prefect Election Procedure
- Interested students should download and print the Pledge Form, complete the application, and return it to the student counter.
- Additionally,
complete the online Microsoft Forms application sent via email by the
Year Level Coordinator. This form will allow you to provide details of
your three teacher references.
Nominees and their
references are then considered by the Head of Department Senior
Schooling, the Deputy Principal and the Year 10 Coordinator. The
Prefects are announced at a Full School Assembly in Term 3, and
the Induction Ceremony for all student leadership positions takes place
in Term 4.
