About the Program
The Excellence in Science Program is designed to inspire and provide greater opportunities for high-achieving students in Years 7 - 9. This three-year program allows students to learn together in their core classes where they are nurtured and motivated to excel in their studies.
Entrance to the Program
All students who wish to apply for the Excellence in Science Program will need to:
1. Complete an online application by providing the following:
- Year 5 Semesters 1 and 2 report cards.
- Year 5 NAPLAN results.
- Copies of further supporting information which may include but is not limited to results/certificates for ICAS, Australian Maths and STEM competitions, school and community awards.

Once online applications close,

Expert Staff
Teachers of this program will be senior Science staff from specialist science areas.
Overview
Students in this program will study the Australian Curriculum for Science, and will experience learning above and beyond this curriculum framework. It is expected that students cover core content for each term; however, this class will do so at a faster pace, leaving time for development of deeper understanding of concepts, exploration of other topics and enrichment activities. E.g. Queensland University of Technology (QUT) programs.
Maintenance of Position in Program
It is expected that students who enter the program will maintain high academic achievement, and display suitable behaviour and effort at all times. They will also be required to provide identified resources. The school reserves the right to withdraw students from the program at any time.
Pathways
Students who graduate from the program at the end of Year 9 may also be eligible to study Year 10 Science Extension.
