About the Program
The Craigslea SHS E-Sports Program is a new school-based initiative to promote teamwork and skill building between students in a competitive but supportive school-based team environment.
E-Sports provides students with opportunities to boost critical thinking, improve communication, apply leadership skills, build confidence and increase student engagement. E-Sports gives students who are not generally high-achievers in other sports or school activities an opportunity to succeed and to represent their school in the wider community.
The Craigslea E-Sports program has a number of goals:
- To facilitate students to enter E-Sports competitions
- To train in a supportive environment
- To foster sportsmanship
- To improve engagement within the school community.
Highlights of the Program
This year, the program will focus on two areas, connecting like-minded students and facilitating them to join competitive leagues and to fundraise for equipment that will enable our students to practise at school. The Craigslea E-Sports program recognises that many students have skills that are not necessarily demonstrable in a classroom environment. The program aims to create a platform for students to demonstrate their existing abilities while having the opportunity to gain new skills.
Craigslea SHS prides itself on offering students as many experiences as possible, both in and out of the classroom. The E-Sports Program recognises the diverse range of benefits that E-sports can offer students both in high school and university.
