About the Program
The Vocal Program at Craigslea SHS consists of three vocal groups and soloist vocal
The program is coordinated by Mrs Jennifer Pedder.
The program also consists of Vocal Lessons which take place on a rotational basis and involves a one half hour lesson each week in the Instrumental Music block (J03).
Chorale is a choir for all ages and experience levels. Chorale sing a range of music with a focus on popular songs, as well as two
or three part pieces, and occasionally combine with the other vocal groups. Chorale
perform at school events, assemblies and competitions.
Chorale have received the following awards:
- Gold Award Choral Fanfare 2019
- Silver Award Queensland Youth Music Awards (QYMA) 2016, 2017, 2018
Chorale meet every Wednesday during second lunch in the Instrumental Music block (J01).
Melodia is a senior auditioned choir (Years 9 - 12) with a focus on competitions. Melodia perform regularly on assemblies and school events such as Awards Night and orientation days, as well as community events.
Melodia has received the following awards:
- Gold Award Queensland Youth Music Awards (QYMA) 2017, 2018 and 2019
- Gold Award Choral Fanfare 2017 and 2019
- Gold Award Choral Fanfare Regionals 2019
Melodia meet every Tuesday during second lunch in the Instrumental Music block (J01).
Bassline is a Tenor Bass vocal group with a focus on three and four part harmony, acapella and voice development.
Bassline perform on Music nights, assemblies and community events. They also take part in competitions throughout the year which aims to provide them with an opportunity to showcase their abilities and engage with vocal groups from other schools.
Bassline meet every Monday during second lunch in the Instrumental Music block (J03).
